Faced with the question "do you have anything in your possession which *may be* declared illegal?" he could not help himself but answer "yes". To this day I recall him attempting to explain to the Customs official how anything *may* be declared illegal. The official was not impressed by the argument and IIRC refused to concede even that the question was badly worded...
