OddThinking

A blog for odd things and odd thoughts.

CSI, old school

My father, Joe, refused point-blank to eat liver. He had spent too much time studying it for his PhD thesis.

That didn’t mean he ruled out eating meat entirely, and as a struggling student in the late 1960s, he once took home a recently killed sheep; it had been used in an experiment that wouldn’t taint the meat, so he decided to butcher it at home.

Unfortunately, while transporting it in the boot of his car, he spilled some blood on the outside, and obviously didn’t clean it up quickly enough. Somebody noticed it, the police became involved and he was detained, all the while protesting his innocence.

Eventually, the forensics came back. According to their 1960s state-of-the-art testing lab, the blood was not human, it was avian! It isn’t illegal to have bird blood on the outside of your car, and he was free to go.
