{"id":204,"date":"2006-10-10T19:37:26","date_gmt":"2006-10-10T08:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.somethinkodd.com\/oddthinking\/2006\/10\/10\/keyboard-layouts\/"},"modified":"2006-10-10T19:38:02","modified_gmt":"2006-10-10T08:38:02","slug":"keyboard-layouts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.somethinkodd.com\/oddthinking\/2006\/10\/10\/keyboard-layouts\/","title":{"rendered":"Keyboard Layouts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have used keyboards with the Caps Lock key <strong>above<\/strong> the Shift key.<\/p>\n<p>I have used keyboards with the Caps Lock key <strong>below<\/strong> the Shift key.<\/p>\n<p>For some time, I have thought that there is only one correct position for the Caps Lock key&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;at the back of the computer, near where the power cable plugs in.<\/p>\n<p>I never use Caps Lock, and find it to be nothing more than a mild nuisance. <\/p>\n<p>When using X Windows, I tend to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xfree86.org\/4.2.0\/xmodmap.1.html\">xmodmap<\/a> it to another CTRL key.<\/p>\n<p>When using Microsoft Windows, I tend to turn on the accessibility option called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/windowsxp\/using\/accessibility\/togglekeys.mspx\">ToggleKeys<\/a>. The PC then beeps whenever I accidentally hit the Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock keys.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, I have another set of keys that I want to relegate to the back of the PC, next to the power cable &#8211; the Power key. I am not sure why someone would put a power button in an easy-to-hit-accidentally position in the first place &#8211; especially on an OS where there is no confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed a spider on my keyboard. A few minutes after removing it, I noticed a second one.
