{"id":24,"date":"2005-05-28T10:56:37","date_gmt":"2005-05-28T00:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/somethinkodd.com\/oddthinking\/?p=24"},"modified":"2007-10-07T21:00:41","modified_gmt":"2007-10-07T11:00:41","slug":"hurt-by-the-hula-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.somethinkodd.com\/oddthinking\/2005\/05\/28\/hurt-by-the-hula-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurt by the Hula, Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- UnMarkedDown_2_01132526279--><\/p>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t already read about <a href=\"http:\/\/somethinkodd.com\/oddthinking\/?p=23\">my failed attempts to psychologically scar a small child<\/a>, you should read them first.<\/p>\n<p>Last week I attended a corporate dinner, when the MC, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saxton.com.au\/default.asp?nc8=100&amp;sc8=141&amp;sd8=1269\">Michael Pope<\/a>, dressed as a circus ringmaster, ran a competition.<\/p>\n<p>The selection process was to balance a stick on your finger.  This is something I have practiced until I can do it blindfolded &#8211; literally &#8211; so I had a huge headstart. <\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the MC, selecting the best candidates from the audience, through the stage smoke, with stage-lights in his eyes, failed to see me, forlornly standing in the audience, perfectly still, with the bamboo stick in a stable balance.
