To those who call me Julian the Motherboard-fucker (“One motherboard! I fucked just one motherboard!”), you will be astonished to hear that I upgraded my Motherboard BIOS today without incident. <\/p>\n

I had no luck with my SATA Disk Controller BIOS though. It took me about an hour to work out that yes, my BIOS was out-of-date and yes, the new BIOS would fix one of my (minor) problems with the current BIOS, but no, I couldn’t update it because I ignorantly bought a card with a EPROM rather than a Flash.<\/p>\n

I had moderate luck with the SATA Disk Controller Drivers. The latest drivers wouldn’t connect to the drives, but the ones released a month before them are working fine.<\/p>\n

No news yet on whether the upgrades are preventing the PC crashes<\/a> – I’ve stopped performing the data recovery operations which were triggering the problem.<\/p>\n

Note to firmware authors:<\/em> When my original task was to update the BIOS on the Flash, having two different utilities called UPDBIOS.EXE and UPDFLASH.EXE isn’t helpful.<\/p>\n

While I have your attention, writing in the release notes that the latest version includes “Updated micro-code” doesn’t really tell me much about whether I need to install it.<\/p>\n
