Changing Views

Over time, experiences like the one this week have been evolving my views on several computer related topics. Here’s a sampling.

  • Julian, 1995: “Computers aren’t easy enough for home use yet. Maybe in 10 years.”
  • Julian, 2005: “Computers aren’t easy enough for home use yet. Maybe in 20 years.”
  • Julian, 2000: “I don’t want a computer at home; there’s too much system administration work, and that’s not fun.”
  • Julian, 2005: “All this damn system administration work on my computer at home is not fun.”
  • Julian, 2004: “RAID does not replace the need for boring old off-site back-ups.”
  • Julian, 2005: “RAID does not replace the need for boring old off-site back-ups. No really, I mean it.”

Sigh.
