The more a co-worker’s email’s subject line pleads you to read it, the less important the email is. Strangely, the inverse is not true.

Ergo, an email titled “IMPORTANT! Please Read!!” should be summarily deleted without opening it.

However, no such easy decision can be made about whether to read “FYI: Minor clarifying point about the draft of next year’s proposed plan.”
