Professor Jones’ car space

My father, Joe, was running late to a meeting. This was when he was an undergraduate student at a Melbourne university. He couldn’t find a free car park within the university, and eventually parked in a space reserved for Professor Jones.

He came back to his car – which he routinely left unlocked – to find a note on the steering wheel. “Please come to see me. Professor Jones, room 101.”

He discarded the note with contempt, and went to drive away, but his car wouldn’t start. Popping the bonnet to inspect the engine, he found that the rotor button was missing – critical for starting the car. In its place was another note. “Now, please come to see me. Professor Jones, room 101.”
